Poetry Time

The Auction

Little piecrust table beckoned
me the second
I saw it, the
mahogany
 
finish dusty, smudged, but unmarred.
Blue bidder card
clutched tightly in
a sweaty hand,
 
I awaited the auctioneer's call
for bids -- a small
price to ensure
owning treasure.
