A Comment About Comments

One of the hardest things about writing a new blog is the lack of feedback that you get. You post and post and post...but nobody knows about you so you get no "comments".

Then you find a friend...or two...and suddenly you see a comment appear on a post! One friend leads to another, and another, and another. Soon you have several comments left on each of your posts. Well, except for the poetry posts. Apparently your mamas taught you that if you can't say anything nice, don't say anything at all. I hear more bad poetry.

To the folks who have taken the time to leave such sweet comments on my posts...a heartfelt thanks. You have no idea how much it means to me to read what you have to say. Your comments have made me blush; some have even made me laugh out loud. But mostly your comments make it clear what it is you like to read about, and that's a huge help for me because I struggle each day wondering what to write.

I heart U

Special thanks to two precious bloggers who comment on my blog nearly every day: Robin of  The Robin's Nest and Rondell of  Tomatoe Creek Prims. You gals rock!

Oh, and to those who set up a Reading List in Blogger and added mine as a blog that you follow...big bear hugs to you!

This blogging thing, it's a give-and-take. You've been giving to me, and I'm trying to give back to you as well. If I haven't left a comment on any of your posts, I promise I will.

Because friendship works both ways.

P.S. If you're new to Blogland and haven't left a comment on my blog or someone else's that you like, don't be shy. It's not an exclusive club, I promise. Dive in!

  1. PAM,

  2. It is interesting about comments. I find it all depends on how much time I have whether I leave a comment or not. If I am running short of time, I may read a post but not leave a comment unless the blogger is in need of an extra hug or word of support. I have over 50 blogs on my blog roll now and I just can't comment on each one each time they post but I try hard to let each of my favs know I am still reading!! So here I am!!

  3. I so know where you are coming from. It's hard sometimes to come up with great things to post about. I struggle with this too. I read alot and sometimes dont always leave comments. Im bad about that. But I am trying to get better with it.

I get caught up sometimes, well alot of times just reading and reading.

I hope you have a great day. Hugs, Tammy

  4. My sentiments exactly, Pam! You worded this perfectly, and I agree wholeheartedly!
I appreciate each and avery little
"hello" I discover each day... each one make me smile and realize that I'm connected to something bigger than myself.

Have a wonderful day, Pam. Thank you for being you!

    Blessings, Kimberly

  5. Hi Pam, I agree wholeheartedly!
Your words struck a chord with me this morning and really made me realize how much enjoyment I get out of discovering new comments on my site.

Thank you for your words... and have an amazing day today!

    Blessings, Kimberly

  6. I gotta comment on your comment post!! LOL!! I get SO excited when someone leaves a comment on my blog, so I totally know what you mean!! I am VERY glad that you left one on mine, cause now I have your terrific blog to read! DH and I are antique and collectible crazy! We do a couple shows a year. Way too much stuff! LoL!

    Thanks a bunch!

  7. Annasam - Thanks for dropping by; hope to see you in person someday!

Linda & Tammy - Believe me, I don't have time to leave comments on every blog that I read either. I just wanted to let everyone know how much I appreciate each and every comment that they *do* leave. They mean the world to me!

Kimberly & Julie - It *is* fun, isn't it?!?

  8. it is always nice to see a comment left for someone isn't it..I love your blog as well.. do you sell all the stuff in the photos in wordless wednesday? wow..i would love coming to your the polish pottery..I have one piece I got while living in italy..wanted more..but just didn't happen...and here in the states too expensive for me..but I love it...especially the butter lady dish..take care. I am adding you to my daily reads...
    Gina :)

  9. I've always loved your looking at the antiques that you get to be around everyday. It's a very interesting blog that makes me smile:)
    Have a great day:)

  10. Thanks, Rondell!

Gina - Most of the stuff in my shop is NOT on my website, simply because of time constraints. HOWEVER, if anyone is ever interested in any of the items that they see in my pics, they are always welcome to email me. I'll be happy to quote you a price and shipping.

  11. Here we gooooo.. Look at all the comments you have today. You have a lot of people that come everyday and lurk-But don't comment. I haven't posted as much because of the Christmas stocking swap and Etsy store I have been working on. But I am wrapping that all up & will get to spend quality time with everyone now! :)
I've been meaning to post about your blog on my blog because you really are one of my favorites! I will soon! :)

  12. Thanks, Nicole! Those are the Polish Pottery dishes that Gina mentioned.

Robin - You have a lot on your plate right now! I do too, which is why I didn't sign up for your stocking swap. I was so very tempted. *sigh*

  13. I just found your blog through Linda's. I'm glad I did because I love it and will be coming back often. I agree with you about comments.

  14. It is a wondrous thing, really, this blogging phenomenon. Comments beget comments. Interest and anticipation build -- as do friendships. I never imagined that SO many people would be interested in what I have to say and share. But they are and so too am I. Give and take for sure. And something too about simple pleasures..

So Welcome! And come visit sometime.

  15. Hey, I see you are reading Twilight. What do you think? I'm about to finish book 3.

  16. Sue & Colleen - So glad you found my blog...and now I'm reading yours too!

Lisa - I'm only about 20 pages into Twilight so far. At first I thought, "Uh-oh, seems pretty juvenile", but now I'm starting to get sucked in. The book was a recommendation from my 21-year-old daughter, by the way! LOL

  17. I love what you had to say today. I am new to blogging but am making some friends & so many talented artists and decorators. It is so fun, this blogging thing, and when someone leaves me a comment, I get very excited. Thanks.

  18. Hi Pam,
I just read your "comment and about comments" post. I couldn't agree more. I just started blogging because I thought it would compliment my new store. I've only had one or two comments, and I thought it was so cool! I'm pretty busy during the week with my full time job, but just had to take a minute to send you a quick note.....looks like a lot of folks felt the same :)

I hope to catch up with my own blog this weekend. There's just not enough days in the week. LOL

BTW, I love your signature. Where did you get it?

    Take care,

  19. Pam - Obviously I get excited too when I get comments! LOL

Nancy - I made my signature in Photoshop Elements and saved it as a JPEG file, then I just download it as a pic at the end of each post.

Blogging definitely takes time and commitment, but I think it's worth it!

  20. I would have never dreamed that I would have such freindships....over the internet!
But I do, and I value them all! Beth

  21. You go girl! LOL look at all those comments!!! I know EXACTLY how you feel everytime I hear "girlfriend, you've got mail" I get all excited hoping it's a blog comment! LOL

  22. I know what you mean about comments! Its hard to get started blogging, especially when your busy and don't have alot of time. Everyone needs to feel those comment hugs. I'm the worse about giving those hugs. But here's mine this morning. Thanks for yours.

Your comments always make me smile. Thanks for taking the time to leave me a sweet note!
