A Quilting Finish and a Visit

The runner that I started for my mother's birthday is now finished and on its way to her in North Carolina. I hope she likes it...there's a lot of blood, sweat, and tears in that project! Now I can't wait to get back in my sewing room and finish up a couple of my other projects...but those will have to wait.

Hubby and I will be busy today and tomorrow scrubbing and fluffing and cooking, getting ready for Thursday when we pick up our kids at the airport. That's right...they're finally coming to visit! Baby Girl's coming in from New York City, and my boy is flying all the way from North Carolina. Lucky for us, they are meeting up in Minneapolis and flying the last leg together, so the airport pickup will uber-easy. Two more sleeps!

Remember the elk that I showed you? They came back several more times, although we haven't seen them for the last couple of days so they're probably moved on. They were so funny to watch: apparently one of the calves was a bit of an outcast and the others were always shoving him aside and chasing him off. Poor little guy; I guess they didn't like his jokes.

I've also been busy with my other new avocation: proofreading. You know how much I love books; well, that love of reading has turned into another way to keep me busy. Suddenly I have enough proofreading work to keep me busy for a while, which has totally surprised me. The editing side of it is much more of a challenge, and prompting me to pull out the books and do a little studying to learn ways to help my newer authors develop good habits while still retaining their unique style.

One of my authors has been encouraging me to advertise my services, so of course I had to create a website for informational purposes... which means I now have blog number three. If you'd like to take a peek, you can pop over here. Setting up new blogs is a huge time-drain—especially when your Internet connection is just a trickle—but it really is a lot of fun.

Don't forget to enter my giveaway for my copy of "Sisters of the Quilt"...there's still plenty of time! Just click on the giveaway button at the top of my sidebar and you'll be taken to the post where you can enter.

I'll leave you with this image...what mama couldn't love this face?
